Titans Trade Rumors Pit Cowboys, Eagles in Potential Bidding War

NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, share pressing needs at cornerback and edge rusher, potentially positioning them as competitors for the same players ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Both franchises may find a trade partner in the Tennessee Titans, who are expected to make cornerback Roger McCreary and edge rusher Arden Key available, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler notes the Titans are “open to trading players who are in the last year of a contract and are not in the franchise’s long-term plans,” a description that fits both McCreary and Key.

The Eagles are seeking help at boundary cornerback, where Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson have struggled opposite rookie Quinyon Mitchell. The team’s need for an edge rusher became more urgent following the unexpected retirement of Za’Darius Smith. While Brandon Graham’s return from retirement provides a boost, Philadelphia is still likely to pursue additional pass-rushing talent.

In Dallas, the Cowboys are looking for an upgrade at cornerback after Kaiir Elam failed to meet expectations. Given the injury histories of Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, added depth is also a priority. Furthermore, the departure of Micah Parsons has significantly weakened the team’s pass rush, making the addition of an edge defender a major need.

McCreary, who primarily plays in the slot but has experience on the outside, offers valuable versatility. Key has been a consistent performer over the past four seasons, accumulating 23.5 sacks from 2021-2024. He has recorded 1.5 sacks and nine pressures through five games this year.

While neither player would constitute a blockbuster acquisition, both McCreary and Key would provide immediate upgrades for the defensive units of either NFC East contender.
