Indiana Pacers player TJ McConnell has undergone a surgical procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right hand. As the journalist Adrian Wojnarowski has announced, the point guard could lose the remainder of the campaign due to this operation.
McConnell had left last Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks after just three minutes on the court. Then, the franchise confirmed his injury although it did not share any schedule about his return or a formal diagnosis about his health.
This season, the point guard has participated in a total of 23 games, six of them as a starter, in which he has averaged 8.7 points, 5.0 assists in 25.0 minutes.
It is possible that McConnell’s situation is an added factor that has fueled the Pacers’ apparent interest in facing an imminent rebuilding rather than continuing to fight for the playoffs this season, which they have started off on the wrong foot and a 10-16 record.
