TJ Warren’s recovery has progressed at a slower pace than initially expected. The forward has not played an official match since December 29, 2020 due to plantar fasciitis that he had dragged on from the previous season. An injury that ended up leading to a stress fracture and subsequent surgery.
Although the initial forecasts envisaged his recovery coinciding with the start of the 2021-22 season, the constant setbacks have avoided the scenario. In fact, Warren maintains his status as an indefinite leave, although it seems that little by little he begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
As reported by journalist Scott Agness, the player no longer needs an orthopedic boot to walk and the results of the latest scan are promising. Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said his return is not imminent but that he is already facing his home stretch. “It will be weeks, not days,” said the head coach.
Warren was one of the biggest names in the Orlando bubble in 2020, where he averaged 31.0 points in six games. Therefore, his return will be important news for some Pacers who have started the course with a negative balance of three victories and six defeats.
