Average 30-year fixed mortgage rates dropped significantly early this month and have remained around a full percentage point below their peak of 7%.
According to its latest monthly forecast, the Mortgage Bankers Association expects mortgage rates to fall throughout the next couple of years. If rates trend according to MBA expectations, 30-year fixed rates will reach 5.2% by the end of 2023 and 4.4% by the end of 2024.
