A toddler has died after drowning in a public swimming pool in a remote town.
The young child was visiting an aquatic centre in Kintore, about 530km west of Alice Springs, on Wednesday.
Members of the community found the toddler unresponsive and performed CPR but sadly the child could not be saved.

‘Detectives are travelling to the community to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident,’ police said in a statement.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
The Indigenous community of Kintore has a population of 454 people and is part of the MacDonnell Regional Council.
Facilities provided in the small community include a clinic, school, community council, art centre, police station and women’s centre.
