Tom Brady is serenaded by Birmingham City fans in local pub as NFL legend jets in to watch The Blues take on Leeds United in his first St Andrews appearance

Tom Brady was serenaded by Birmingham City fans in a local pub after he jetted in to watch the Blues take on Leeds United on Saturday.

The NFL legend became a co-owner of Blues earlier this month thanks to an existing relationship with the club’s new American owners.

After missing Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Swansea on the opening day of the Championship, and their 2-0 win over Cheltenham in the EFL Cup, Brady has flown in for their first home match.

Brady has now been spotted in a local pub, with Birmingham fans singing to him as he takes in the atmosphere ahead of the match. 

Taking to Twitter, he posted a photo on a plane earlier as he wrote: ‘Any plans before kick off guys? See you at St. Andrew’s’.

This led Birmingham’s official account to reply: ‘See you soon, Tom!’.

And it appears the Brady has found plans ahead of the clash, being recorded in a local pub surrounded by Blues fans as they sing to him.

Speaking after becoming part of the club, Brady said: ‘Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honour for me. 

‘BCFC is built on teamwork and determination and I’m excited to work alongside the board, management and players to make our Second City club second to none.

‘I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.’

The former Premier League side have struggled financially in recent years but the arrival of new owners at St Andrews has brought optimism to the fans of Birmingham.

Despite seeing the likes of Jobe Bellingham and Tahith Chong sold this summer, there have been several reinforcements as the Blues look to finish strong in the Championship.

They will be hoping that Brady can prove to be a good luck charm as they face newly-relegated Leeds United on Saturday.

Last Saturday, Wrexham AFC owner Ryan Reynolds gave Brady a warm welcome to UK football.

Asked by Sky Sports about his new rival, Reynolds said: ‘I know Tom a little bit and I don’t think you need to know him to know he has the spirit of a lion and a competitor in every way, shape and form.’

‘Whatever he has cooked up for Birmingham, he is going to bring it. Come on in, the water is warm!’

It comes after a source close to Brady exclusively told DailyMail.Com: ‘He has seen what Ryan Reynolds did with Wrexham and is doing with Wrexham and he wants a piece of that for himself.

‘He is going to fully support [Birmingham] in his time as part owner, he is all in and will do anything to see it work out.

‘Tom was going to invest in a soccer club and be a part of ownership at some point, and Birmingham City was at the right place at the right time for Tom to add to his portfolio of business acquisitions now that he is retired and has a lot more time on his hands to focus on all of that.’

Brady, 46, will chair the advisory board and assist the club by bringing his knowledge and expertise regarding human performance to St. Andrew’s.
