Chris Boucher will miss the start of the season. The pivot, who is opting for the starting position after a more than interesting 2020-21 campaign, has seen such an option stopped in his tracks by having to undergo surgery to repair a dislocated finger in his hand. According to Josh Lewenberg of TSN, Nick Nurse has ensured that his player’s time out will reach at least 3-4 weeks.
This setback comes at a bad time for the 28-year-old. Entering his last year of contract, he hopes that this course will help him take a new step in his career and establish himself in the NBA as an important player. Last season he averaged 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per night.
Without Boucher on the court, Khem Birch will most likely be the starting center on opening night. Behind him, Precious Achiuwa would see his minutes increased. Once Boucher is recovered, he will have to get ready to claim a title that he held last year in 14 of the 60 games he played.
