Substitute Joao Felix scored and striker Ferran Torres completed his hat-trick – in stoppage time – to lead Barcelona to a 4-2 victory over Real Betis in the Spanish Football League, yesterday, Sunday, to relieve the pressure on coach Xavi Hernandez.
Barcelona occupies third place in the league with 44 points, 7 points behind leaders Real Madrid and 5 points behind second-ranked Girona, which hosts Sevilla later today.
Torres opened the scoring in the 21st minute, taking advantage of a perfect cross pass from Pedri, before strengthening the team’s lead in the 49th minute, taking advantage of a ball that bounced off the crossbar after Al-Amin Jamal’s shot.
But Betis equalized minutes later thanks to a brace scored by Isco within 4 minutes.
When Betis dominated the proceedings, Felix took advantage of a counterattack to put the ball into the net with a shot from the edge of the penalty area in the first minute of stoppage time.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Ferran scored his third goal from a quick counterattack to seal a difficult victory for the defending champion.
