Will the qualifiers to define Luka Doncic ever end? Bet on yes. Night after night his basketball shines in a special way. His actions are spectacular, typical of an unparalleled talent – which he is. That is why seeing what he did last night is not surprising because of the fact itself, but because for him it is a natural state. He lives above most rivals, and against Boston, playing in Dallas, he once again delighted us with a performance that concluded with one of those baskets that directly sneak into our historical memory of the NBA: triple on the horn with three rivals on top to win the game 107-104.
The Mavericks are Doncic. There is a lot of talk about surrounding him better, especially in the playoffs, but rarely has a player been seen to cover so much on a court, pick up so much weight on his back and, more importantly, do it so damn well. 31 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists were their numbers last night, but none of that mattered when with 11 seconds left they were tied with the Celtics. The Slovenian wizard caught the ball, dribbled, went to the left and hit an astonishing 3-pointer that sent the stands tumbling. Mavs fans are getting used to these things.
«I played before with a player like this here; everyone knew the ball was going to ’41’ and he complied. Now everyone knows that the ball goes to ’77’ and he takes care of it ”, says Jason Kidd, head coach from Dallas.
Return of Porzingis
The good news for the Mavs didn’t stop at Doncic. After five games absent, Kristaps Porzingis returned to the courts, who would finish the night with 21 points (15 in the second half) and 7 rebounds. The Latvian was happy to have returned with his companions. «I am very happy to be back on the court. It sucks not being able to play and help, and you also have to put in all the cardiovascular work to make sure you stay in shape. Playing is the fun part.
Tatum recovers the success
Arriving in Dallas after defeating Miami, the Celtics showed rebellion last night to hold on to a game that at times seemed to be eluding them; not in vain they reached the break 17 points down. Despite this, and guided by a much improved Jayson Tatum with 32 points and 11 rebounds, they rowed until they got ahead (102-104) with just over two minutes to play. So far they got. Porzingis and Doncic closed the night in favor of Dallas.
“I knew I was struggling at that end to play well and make shots. I have spent too much time and work to now doubt myself, “says Tatum, who arrived after signing a 7 of 29 at the launch combining the two previous games.
Beyond the forward, in Boston Dennis Schröder also stood out with 20 points and 6 assists, returning to be a starter; as well as 16 goals by Robert Williams and 14 by Al Horford.
