Chris Paul is basketball, nothing more. The veteran point guard from Phoenix is having a spectacular season based on fundamentals that are forgotten by some and unknown to others. Last night, hosting Minnesota, he gave us a triple-double of 21 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. It was another magical performance as the Suns earned their ninth straight victory.
It’s been a while since we took our hat off to CP3, but praising him doesn’t stop being notorious with every step he takes on the track. Monty Williams ends each game by pointing out how much it helps his job to have someone like that on the floor. It is not for less. His decision making, his ability to understand every moment of the game… Paul is on his way to leading Arizona to another fantastic playoff run, but for him it’s all about the team and staying on track.
“Right now, we’re in a good place as a team. We just want to continue like this”, emphasizes the base, who was very well accompanied by the 29 points and 9 assists of Devin Booker and the 23 goals that Cameron Johnson contributed with a 5 of 9 in triples.
Regarding the development of the meeting, Minnesota stood up. Those from Minneapolis demonstrated the step forward they have taken this year by staying in the fight for victory at all times; so much so that they were just three points down with nine minutes to go. They tried, but they couldn’t.
“Our attack is working. We did a really good job on that facet of the game. We have to get our defense back to where it was for most of the season. I think it’s a bit loose now,” says Chris Finch, head coach of the Timberwolves.
As for individual performances, Anthony Edwards had a double-double of 27 points and 10 assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points.
Monty Williams, cerca All-Star
After last night’s victory, Phoenix is just one away from securing the top seed in the Western Conference for the All-Star, which would see their coach coaching one of the teams in the All-Star game. Devin Booker knows that he is not objective in the campaign, but he also understands that it would be a satisfaction.
“We know that our main objective is to win a title, to bring a championship here, but you can celebrate the little things without neglecting the big ones. Getting our entire coaching staff there (at All-Star) would be a great moment.”
