US President Donald Trump awarded Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa the Medal of Merit with the rank of Commander in Chief, in appreciation of his role in supporting regional and international stability.
Trump said he was “pleased to present this medal to the Bahraini monarch, who over decades contributed to establishing the kingdom’s position as a stable strategic ally and partner working alongside the United States.”
He added, “Bahrain’s support for the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which the country hosts, had a supportive role in enabling it to perform its multiple tasks.”
The American President praised Al Khalifa’s support for the vision of peace and his decision to establish full diplomatic relations with Israel, describing the decision as “the start of a new era of economic and security cooperation between the most important US partners in the Middle East.”
Bahrain signed an agreement with the UAE on the one hand and Israel on the other hand, an agreement to normalize diplomatic relations last December, under the auspices of US President Donald Trump.
