The US President-elect announced Donald Trump His campaign manager, Susan Wiles, was chosen to be White House chief of staff, the first appointment in his next administration.
“Susie Wales helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history,” Trump said in a statement.
He added that Wales “will continue to work tirelessly to make America great again,” referring to his famous campaign slogan.
The president-elect recalled that this sixty-year-old woman will be the first woman in the history of the United States to hold this prestigious position, considering it “an honor she has well deserved.”

Controversial figures are likely to play key roles in the next Trump administration, such as… Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
The next president could assign Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the late president's nephew and former independent candidate who became his ally, to assume responsibilities in the public health sector.
Kennedy is known for his criticism of vaccination, and he confirmed Thursday on NBC that he “will not withhold vaccines from people,” but he believed that Americans should be able to “make the decision individually.”
Musk is also expected to play a role in his administration after actively contributing to his election campaign. It is possible that the president-elect will entrust the task of reorganizing the federal administration to Musk, the richest man in the world and one of the most vocal advocates for significantly reducing the role of government.
On Thursday, US President Joe Biden pledged, in a brief speech, to ensure a “peaceful and orderly” transfer of power to his fiercest political opponent, his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump.
Earlier, The Hill website said that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin issued a memorandum to US forces on Wednesday, in which he confirmed that the Pentagon would complete a “calm, orderly, and professional” transition to the next administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
“Our citizens have elected the next president of the United States,” Austin wrote in the memo. “As always, the US military will stand ready to implement the policy choices of the next commander in chief, and to obey all lawful orders from the civilian chain of command.”
