President Donald Trump on Tuesday questioned the intelligence of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, suggesting the two lawmakers take an IQ test. The comments were made to reporters before Trump boarded Marine One to attend an artificial intelligence summit.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, look, I think she’s very nice, but she’s very low IQ, and we really don’t need low IQ,” Trump stated. He then added, “Between her and Crockett, we’re going to give them both an IQ test to see who comes out best.”
The president also referenced his own cognitive test results, telling the press, “I took my test. I took a real test at Walter Reed Medical Center, and I aced it. I got every one of all those questions right.”
Trump’s remarks follow recent criticism from Ocasio-Cortez, who called him a “rapist” in a social media post related to a Department of Justice update on Jeffrey Epstein. Her comment appeared to reference the 2023 civil trial brought by writer E. Jean Carroll, in which a jury found Trump liable for sexual assault but not rape. The remark drew criticism that she had defamed the president.
This is not the first time Trump has targeted Crockett with similar insults. In May, after the president called her a “low IQ person” during a television appearance, Crockett responded that he was “terrified of smart, bold Black women telling the truth and holding you accountable.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
