Tsunami warning after 6.9-magnitude earthquake strikes off Japan

Japan has issued a tsunami warning after a 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast.

The violent tremor was detected near Hyuga area of Miyazaki, with a tsunami expected to reach Japan’s southern region this morning.

Tsunami advisories were sent out over several regions in the southwestern islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, public broadcaster NHK reported.
