BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – There’s just something special about ‘home.’
And for two games this season, Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft’s shoes reflected where he grew up.
Kraft chose the Cheyenne River Youth Project for the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative.
Kraft grew up in Timber Lake, South Dakota on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. He says choosing an organization back home for, “My Cause, My Cleats” is an extension of the gratitude he feels for the support he’s received from people back home.
“I don’t have the words to express the way that makes me feel. But last year I was coming off the field, we were playing the Vikings at the Bank on New Year’s. There was like 200 people in the crowd wearing 85, jumping up and down, cheering and saying, ‘Hey, I know that guy!’ And like that makes me feel good and I can feel that pride in my community,” said Kraft.
Kraft and the Packers play the Saints Monday night.
