The Russian ambassador to Tunisia, Sergey Nikolaev, said that Russia and Tunisia are in talks to supply the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Corona virus as soon as possible.
“RIA Novosti” agency quoted the Russian ambassador as saying that Tunisia seeks to restore life in the country to normal, and considers that vaccinating the population against the Corona virus is the most important factor in returning social and economic life to its usual course.
The ambassador explained that the possibility of using the Russian vaccine to combat the Corona epidemic has been under study since its beginning, by doctors and specialists in Tunisia.
Nikolaev pointed out that “as a result of joint work, the Tunisian Ministry of Health decided, on January 30th, to allow the use of the Russian vaccine, adding that negotiations are underway regarding supplying the vaccine as soon as possible.”
Tunisia is the third country in Africa, after Algeria and Guinea, to officially register the “Sputnik V” vaccine.
