The largest medical association in Turkey called on the government to tighten restrictions on combating the “Covid-19” disease, provided that the measures include restrictions on movement and mixing.
The Turkish Doctors Association (TTB) said, “The government is unable to manage the pandemic,” describing the current situation in the country as a “social assassination.”
She added: “The increase in the number of cases in a short time shows that Turkey, like many other countries in Europe, is facing a tsunami of cases, and with the continuation of this increase, we need more stringent measures supported by the solidarity of the public.”
The association called on officials in the Ministry of Health to resign, and for more transparency regarding the numbers of infected people, the mutated strains that were detected, and the doses of vaccines purchased by the country.
For his part, Turkish Health Minister Fakhruddin Kujah announced last Thursday that “the pandemic will be controlled by late May or June next,” stressing the need for “commitment to wearing masks and social distancing.”
Turkey recorded a total of more than 3 million and 149 thousand cases of corona, in addition to 30,772 deaths.
