This comes after the Energy Market Regulatory Authority in Turkey granted a license to the AXN Energy Trade Company to export 150 megawatts of electricity to Iraq.
Under the contract concluded with the Iraqi side, the electricity supply to Iraq will start from December 28 to November 1, 2021.
Earlier, the Iraqi government said that the capital, Baghdad, and other parts of the country are facing the risk of tangible power outages, as a result of reducing gas imports from Iran by a decision from Tehran.
It is noteworthy that Turkey currently exports electricity to 3 neighboring countries: Georgia, Greece and Bulgaria.
In addition, the head of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority in Turkey, Mustafa Yilmaz, said that the leaps that Turkey has made in the energy sector in recent years are a source of pride.
He explained that Turkey is now at a level that enables it to meet the electricity needs of its neighbors, as well as meet the needs of the internal market.
He expressed confidence that Turkey will increase the volume of its electricity exports in 2021.
