Turkish Health Minister Fakhruddin Kujah announced that his country has begun toxic tests for the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the Corona virus.
He said, “The toxicology tests for the Russian anti-Covid-19 vaccine have started in our laboratories, and we are preparing specifically to produce the vaccine here in Turkey.”
He pointed out, “The government will buy the Russian vaccine, if it passes the toxicology tests and meets the requirements of good laboratory practice.”
He continued: “The number of people who received the Coronavirus vaccine in the country reached 8 million, of whom 1.5 million received the second dose.”
The Turkish minister stated that “the quantity of the Pfizer-Biontec vaccine, which will be provided in the first phase, will reach 800 thousand doses,” indicating that “efforts have been made to increase the quantity to 5 million.”
Koca stressed that “there is no problem in providing the vaccine and that the second dose is guaranteed for all citizens who received the first dose.”
For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, “His country is discussing the possibility of purchasing vaccines against the Corona virus with Russia and China.”
Erdogan discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin importing Corona vaccines from Russia, stressing at the same time that “Ankara is also working to create its own vaccine against the coronavirus.”
