The Turkish Ministry of Health data today showed that more than 600,000 people were vaccinated in the first two days of the vaccination campaign with the Chinese “Sinovac” vaccine.
Turkey launched the vaccination program at the national level yesterday, Thursday, starting with health care workers, and gave the vaccine to more than 285 thousand on the first day, and the total of recipients reached 600040 as of 16:01 GMT today.
The government said that what helped speed up the pace of vaccination was the nationwide distribution of vaccines at the start of the week, as well as digital health records and hospital services.
“We are a country with experience in implementing vaccination programs at the national level,” Health Minister Fakhruddin Kujah said on Twitter. “Our infrastructure is par excellence able to implement this program in a controlled manner. Together we will win the battle against the pandemic.”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received the first dose of the vaccine on Thursday and urged support for the program and called on citizens to ignore criticism of vaccines.
