Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa Warank, said that the Turkish “Bayraktar” and “Phoenix” drones will soon fly over European airspace.

In a speech during his participation by video call today, Thursday, at the third defense industries forum in Istanbul, Warank explained that the investments made by Turkey during the last five years, “will move the country to the Giants League in the field of defense industries.”
He added that the defense industries are one of the most important factors that guarantee the country’s independence, and that the value of the sector’s exports reached 3 billion dollars in 2020.
The Minister of Industry indicated that his country seeks to raise the proportion of domestic production in the defense industries to 75 percent, by the year 2023.
He pointed out that the total value of defense industries in Turkey rose to 60 billion dollars, from 5.5 billion dollars in 2002.
He continued, “Our leading companies in the field of defense industries have started to occupy advanced positions globally, and during the next stage we will be one of the main players regionally and internationally.”
