Twitter announced that it will take action against tweets calling for violence, after hundreds of supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building in Washington, DC.
The company said, “We have severely restricted interaction with Tweets marked under our Civic Integrity Policy due to the risk of violence. This means that these Tweets will not be replied to, retweeted or liked.”
Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building a few hours ago, which led to the suspension of the work of the Senate, which was preparing to discuss the results of the electoral college.
Washington is witnessing massive protests by Trump supporters, and after they gathered in the vicinity of the White House, they went to the Capitol building in conjunction with the House and Senate holding a joint session to validate the results of the voting in the electoral college.
Muriel Bawazir, the Mayor of Washington, called for a curfew to be imposed in the city and the District of Columbia from 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 6, until 6 am Thursday, January 7.
