(Trends Wide) — Two US citizens were shot in Ciudad Juárez, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, and both were injured, according to a statement issued by the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office.
According to the statement, the two victims were outside the attorney general’s office when they were shot.
“The injured are two US citizens, 31 and 66 years old, who went to review an investigation folder at the prosecutor’s office, and when they left their vehicle, they were attacked,” the statement said.
The two wounded were taken by their relatives to El Paso, Texas, to receive medical attention “before being treated by Mexican authorities,” according to the statement.
Authorities said the attack occurred before 3:00 pm Wednesday, after which they received information from an alleged perpetrator. The authorities added that the information is “being verified to clarify these facts.”
