UAEH refines details for the 2022 International Image Festival

The Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) organizes the eleventh edition of the International Image Festival (FINI) 2022event that will take place from April 22 to 29 under the theme of “Climate Change” and will have as guest of honor country Germany.

The highest house of studies in Hidalgo prepares various activities, including conferences, talks, workshops, editorial presentations, film series, concerts, exhibitions, documentary screenings, colloquiums and artistic shows, this as part of its commitment to spread and promote culture in society in general.

The activities will begin on April 21, with the opening of “A life of drawings”, made by the artist David Espinosa “El Dee” at the gate of the City of Knowledge. That day will also open “B&B: Latin American Dialogues in poster” by Félix Beltrán and the Colombian Diego Giovanni Bermúdez; “Stree Drishti: expo contemporary indian women print markers” of the Embassy of India in Mexico; the exhibition of Cartel finalists in the Postgraduate Tower; in addition to “Birth of a volcano”, made by the artist Rafael García.

The inauguration of the FINI will be on Friday, April 22sharply at 12:00 o’clock, in the University Cultural Center “La Garza”, located in the center of Pachuca. Later, in the same complex, the work “Ice Postcards” by Chilean artists Alfredo Pourailly and Cristian Donoso, who documented the transformation of Southern Patagonia, will be inaugurated; There will also be an official opening for “Apuntes de viaje: Europa 1989-2003”, by Pedro Tzontémoc, and “Eyes of a flying woman”, by Patricia Aridjis.

That same day, but at 5:00 p.m., the Casa Grande Museum, located in the magical town of Real del Monte, will host the play “Walter Reuter. Freedom Rider.” Afterwards, the UAEH Symphony Orchestra will offer the “German Ingenuity” concert at 7:00 p.m. in the “Alfonso Cravioto Mejorada” Aula Magna.

On Saturday, April 23, at the “La Garza” Cultural Center, the award ceremony for the International Image Contest will be held at 6:00 p.m., to then screen the Festival’s winning documentaries and then perform the ribbon cutting of the exhibition of the finalists of the contest in the categories of Photography and Alternative Techniques.

For movie lovers, the FINI 2022 prepares a German cliche which will be screened free of charge in the “Doctor J. Pilar Licona Olvera” Room of the “La Garza” Cultural Center. This activity will begin on Saturday April 23 and will end on April 29; the schedules can be consulted in the program of activities.

For the first time, FINI will hold the “Bachicón Garza” contest, a photography contest with mobile devices aimed at high school students under the theme of “Climate Change.” The award ceremony will take place on April 26 and will also open an exhibition of the best works.

FINI 2022 has prepared some academic activities, such as the Colloquium “Images and Ideas: Reflections on climate change”, in which specialists and researchers will participate and engage in a debate on this very important issue for humanity.

Within the framework of this Colloquium, on Thursday, April 28, the German geoecologist Tillmann Buttschardt, from the Westphalian Wilhelms University, will present the keynote speech “Impact and evaluation of environmental pollution”, to immediately be invested as honorary international visiting professor of the UAEH .

Likewise, the FINI will make editorial presentations, such as Mexico the Land of Enchantment, Alquimia Magazine No. 71 “The Lost Patrimony”, Luna Cornea and Dark Room, the latter with the participation of renowned Mexican photographer Pedro Valtierra.

To close with a flourish, a well-deserved tribute will be paid to Patricia Aridjis for 30 years of photographic career on Friday, April 29, an act in which the activities of the eleventh International Image Festival will be closed and in which the know the guest of honor country and the theme to be addressed in 2023.
