The European Football Association (UEFA) announced today, Tuesday, the cancellation of the European Under-19 Championship for young men and women, due to the repercussions of the emerging coronavirus pandemic.
The Youth Championship was due to be held in Romania from June 30, and the Young Women’s Championship in Belarus from July 21.
The #UEFAExCo Today canceled the 2021 UEFA Women’s and Men’s Under-19 Championships due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on the staging of competitions.

The Romanian capital, Bucharest, is one of 12 cities that will host the Euro 2020 men’s European Championship, which has been postponed from 2020 to the summer of this year. UEFA is expected to make a decision on its plans for this tournament on the fifth of next March.
UEFA said in a statement: “The Executive Committee of UEFA took this decision based on the current restrictions imposed on team travel.”
The statement added, “The member associations of UEFA supported this decision despite all our regret for not holding youth competitions this season. The health and safety of young players comes in the first place in light of the current circumstances.”
