Strana.ua said that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, posted on “Twitter” his congratulations to the Chinese people on the occasion of the Chinese New Year (which falls this year, on February 21).
The website stated that Zelensky attached the congratulations to a picture of “Durbar” Square in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.
The text of the congratulations read: “In my name and on behalf of all Ukrainians, I congratulate the Chinese President, Mr. Xi Jinping, and the friendly Chinese people on the occasion of the Spring Festival.”
Zelensky expressed his confidence in the continuation and development of the China-Ukraine cooperation, which is beneficial to both sides.
According to the site, Internet users noticed Zelensky’s mistake, which prompted the Ukrainian president to delete the post. After that appeared on “Twitter” the text of the congratulations, but without the picture.
In a similar incident last October, the Office of the President of Ukraine published a report on Zelensky’s visit to Riga, in which Latvia and Lithuania were confused.
In July, the press office of the Ukrainian presidency named Toronto the capital of Canada, instead of Ottawa.
