Ukraine’s “112 Ukraine”, NewsOne and ZiK TV channels described the authorities’ decision to impose sanctions on them as a “liquidation of political accounts” with “unwanted opposition channels”.
“The authorities, represented by the person of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, decided to eliminate 3 opposition channels … and to impose penalties on the owner of the holding company, Deputy Parliament Taras Kozak,” said a statement published on the channel “112 Ukraine”.
The statement added, “We consider the decision issued by the Security and National Defense Council and President Zelensky to liquidate political accounts with the unwanted media.”

And television channels considered that the decision was taken under a pretext, confirming their determination to defend their rights.
President Zelensky had ordered the activation of the Security and National Defense Council resolution to impose sanctions on Taras Kozak, the owner of a media holding company that includes several television channels, and a deputy in the Ukrainian Parliament for the “Opposition Platform – For Life” party.
He is seen as the right hand of the head of the party’s political council and one of the most prominent figures of the opposition, billionaire and MP Viktor Medvedchuk.
Following the decision, the three aforementioned channels stopped broadcasting.
