Underground section of Metro Line 12 will operate from January 15: Sheinbaum

The underground section of the Line 12 Subway from Mexico City that goes from Mixocac a Atlalilco will restart its operations from Wednesday, January 15, said the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum.

The official commented in a conference that the rehabilitation of the so-called “Gold Line” was 100% completed, after the collapse of an elevated section on May 3, 2021 that caused the death of 26 people.

Sheinbaum, accompanied by the CDMX Mobility Secretary, Andrés Lajous, and the general director of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro, Guillermo Calderón, carried out this Wednesday a supervision tour of the underground section of the golden line.

The local government explained that as of next Monday, January 2, the preoperative tests of the underground section of Line 12 will be carried out so that it resumes its activities with 13 trains and routes that will last around 20 minutes.

The preoperative tests that will last from 15 to 20 days include static tests for verification of rolling stock, dynamic and integration tests, among others.

Guillermo Calderón highlighted that with the commissioning of the underground section of Line 12, close to 175,000 users will benefit, after the operations of this line of the capital Metro were completely suspended for more than a year.
