Unions and Federal Labor Center seek to expedite contract legitimation

In a meeting between union organizations and the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration (CFCRL) seeks a way to expedite the legitimation of collective labor contracts, just five months after the end of the four years to comply with this obligation, and in which only almost 10,000 legitimation processes have been achieved.

Napoleón Gómez Urrutia, the miners’ union leader, said that “in some organizations we are at 70% or more, in the Minero Metalúrgico union we have 70%, the telephone operators have already legitimized, as well as STUNAM; but there are still many to go, and what can happen between now and May is that the contracts disappear, as the Ministry of Labor has said”.

In this sense, he said that they have to find a way out “we have to review this very carefully, to see if there is a way or speed up the processes in the coming months, or if there is any other alternative that may exist, because the measure as the disappearance would be very drastic, it is something that we have to study”.

Therefore, it was exposed before the labor authority, that there are obstacles to carry out the legitimations; For example, at first there were three protocols, since the Federal Labor Center had not been born, now the Governing Board made a single protocol, with some adjustments, “but even so we have made it clear that they must request the documentation that the protocol and not that there are different criteria, this has brought many problems”.

Rodolfo González Guzmán, Secretary General of the Regional Mexican Workers Confederation (CROM), explained that in the meeting with the director of the CFCRL, Alfredo Domínguez Marrufo, “it served to analyze the main problem when presenting documentation and carrying out voting processes in workplaces.”

In his case, he said, 450 legitimations have been carried out in the states of Tabasco, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Puebla Tabasco, Querétaro, the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Oaxaca and Baja California, “being close to the worker has helped us allowed them to get to know us and they themselves defend their collective labor contracts and not have losses in the legitimations”.

Isaiah Gonzalez Cuevas, secretary general of the CROC He said that “we have not finished with the legitimations, we are at 92%, but we do hope to finish on May 1 with all the processes, we are even already working for the following processes that have to do with voting, both for salary increases , such as for contractual revisions”.

He added that it has been necessary to give support to many union organizations, “at the beginning legitimization was very complicated, but now we can go faster, especially because the authority is very receptive.”
