Earlier, the United States announced that it was looking for the possibility to urge Iran to return to the nuclear deal, stressing its readiness to return to the agreement as well.
The US representative to the United Nations, Linda Thomas Greenfield, said during a press conference on Monday: “We are looking for the possibility to urge Iran to return to its commitments. If Iran takes this decision, we will be ready to return to the deal again.”
The American delegate expressed disappointment at Tehran’s decision to suspend the implementation of the measures contained in the Additional Protocol and the transparency measures, and expressed her hope that the Islamic Republic would reconsider its decision.
It is noteworthy that the administration of the new US President Joe Biden has talked about its desire to return to the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, which was reached in 2015, from which the administration of President Donald Trump withdrew in 2018, but considered it necessary for Iran to return to its obligations first.
