UPS supports SMEs in the footwear industry with training and discounts

Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) dedicated to the tire industry will be able to access business tables, workshops and discounts to send their orders.

According to an alliance between UPS and the Chamber of the Footwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato, SMEs in this sector will obtain preferential discounts of the portfolio of UPS products and services at a national and international level.

The footwear industry in Mexico was impacted during the pandemic, although little by little it has begun to reactivate, as national footwear exports increased by around 20% in the last year, with a production of almost 200 million pairs per year. , it is necessary to give a boost to small companies in the sector.

“In Mexico there is a business community eager to explore new markets and our focus is to help them with the logistics solutions necessary to achieve that goal. At UPS we believe that international trade is of vital importance for business development, especially for small and medium-sized companies,” said Francisco Camarena, Director of Government Relations for UPS Mexico.

The signing of the agreement with the Chamber of the IFootwear Industry of the State of Guanajuato was held during the 87th edition of SAPICA, the largest footwear and leather goods exhibition in Latin America, which took place from August 23 to 25 in León, Guanajuato.

During this year, UPS has implemented different programs and initiatives with concrete actions that seek to promote the internationalization of Mexican companies and help them to be more competitive in global markets.

Among these programs is Proudly Unstoppable, an initiative carried out in collaboration with the Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Ministry of Economy, which seeks train businesses that want to expand their business.

The purpose is to encourage MSMEs to learn about the benefits of exporting and to be trained in logistics and business leadership issues, because the dignorance of procedures and the needs of foreign markets prevent small businesses from exporting.

This year the initiative will have a contest, the winners will be able to obtain

• A trip for up to two people to Washington, DC for three days, with flights and lodging included
• A meeting with the Mexican embassy, ​​members of Congress and the Department of Commerce
• A UPS shipping account to make your first International parcel shipments* to the United States and Canada at no cost.
• A business leadership course with the Tecnológico de Monterrey

Registration is open until September 30, 2022 through the following link, and it is required to complete the training modules on the Tecnológico de Monterrey e-learning platform, send a one-page essay or video of a maximum of two minutes duration, focused on the main challenges that the company has faced to export.
