The AFC held the draw for the group stage of the 2021 Champions League competition in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, during a virtual ceremony, today, Wednesday.
This edition of the continental championship will be held with the participation of 40 teams instead of 32, and the West Asia region includes three groups, South Asia group, the middle two groups, ASEAN three groups and the East one group.
Here are the results of the draw:
west Asia
Group A: Al-Ahed (Lebanon), Al-Hidd (Bahrain), Al-Wehda (Syria), and Al-Nasr (Oman).
Group B: Al-Salt (Jordan), Balata Center (Palestine), Al-Ansar (Lebanon), and Muharraq (Bahrain).
– Group C: Tishreen (Syria), Seeb (Amman), Al-Faisaly (Jordan), the qualifiers (Syria / Kuwait).
South Asia
Group D: Mohun Bagan (India), Pashundara (Bangladesh), Maziya Sports (Maldives), qualifier.
Central Asia
Group E: Ravshan (Tajikistan), Dordoy (Kyrgyzstan), Ahal (Turkmenistan).
Group F: AGMK or Nasaf (Uzbekistan), Al-Tin Asir (Turkmenistan), Khujand (Tajikistan), E (Kyrgyzstan).
ASEAN
Group G: Hanoi (Vietnam), Bali United (Indonesia), Boeing Kit (Cambodia), qualifiers (1).
– Group H: Qah (Malaysia), Lyon City Sellers (Singapore), Saigon (Vietnam), the qualifiers of the qualifiers (2).
Group I: Kaya Iloilo (Philippines), Shan United or Ayeyawadi United (Myanmar), Terengganu (Malaysia), Geelang United (Singapore).
East Asia
Group Ten: Eastern Long Lions (Hong Kong), Tainan City (China Taipei), Athletic (Mongolia), Lee Man (Hong Kong).
The group stage matches will be held in the grouping system in the five geographical regions from one round, as announced by the Confederation on Monday, due to the repercussions of the new Corona virus.
The competitions will start in the south, central and east regions from May 14, before the start of the West competitions on May 23, with the ASEAN region matches to be held from June 22-28.
The western leg of the semi-finals will be held on September 13 and 14, with the return matches to take place after two weeks, while the semi-final of the ASEAN region will be held in one round on August 10 and 11.
The South, Central and East final of the two round matches will be held on August 11 and 25, while the final of the ASEAN region of one round will be held on August 25, and the final of the West Region in two rounds on October 20 and November 3.
With regard to the pre-final of the regions, there will be two round-trip matches between 14-15 and 28-29 September, with the final round to be held on 20 October and 3 November.
The AFC Cup Final will be held on November 26th.
The competitions are held in a single-stage league system, while the winner of the continental auxiliary championship title gets a seat in the preliminary round of the 2022 AFC Champions League.
