US Ambassador has generated confidence in Sinaloa, and we will not let him down: Rocha

• The state governor participated via zoom in the working meeting that Ambassador Ken Salazar held in Mazatlán with the governments of Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila.
• The US ambassador proposed to promote before President López Obrador, together with the governors, the continuation of the train from Durango to Mazatlán.

Mazatlán, Sinaloa, December 6, 2022.- During the second visit to Sinaloa in less than three months, by the United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya stressed that these visits generate the trust of nationals and foreigners to visit Sinaloa and Mazatlán in particular, thanks to the fact that their government has worked to create a security environment that has created the conditions for it.

“Since the ambassador began to come to Mazatlán, and hopefully he will not cut his visits, hotel room reservations for the following year have increased a lot, we have a significant increase in this, it is that you have generated trust and we are not going to disappoint him, we continue working to have a favorable security environment for Americans, nationals and Canadians to visit us,” the state president said in his welcome message.

Ambassador Ken Salazar attended the Mazatlán International Convention Center, where he was received by the Secretary General of the Government, Enrique Inzunza Cázarez, with the personal representation of Governor Rocha, who for known health reasons, participated from his home through a videoconference to be part of the meeting as if it were in person.

“This meeting for us is very encouraging, it is hopeful, because it is a bit of a thread in the global world, based on the development of the regions, and you are helping us to integrate the region that makes up Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila,” said the Governor Rocha, who also welcomed his counterpart from the neighboring state, Esteban Villegas Villarreal.

From the outset, the Sinaloan president thanked Ambassador Ken Salazar for posting a tweet on his social networks upon his arrival in Mazatlán this Monday afternoon, in which he congratulated Sinaloa for the certification granted by the United States of America to the fishermen for the export of wild shrimp, thanks to the result of bilateral inspection and conservation tasks.

“I am in Sinaloa, the national leader in shrimp production. I am proud that as a result of bilateral inspection and conservation, the United States has certified fishermen for the export of wild shrimp. A triumph for Sinaloa, the United States and our environment!”, the US ambassador posted on his Twitter account.

In this regard, Governor Rocha considered it very important that Ambassador Ken Salazar recognizes that Sinaloa follows good wild shrimp fishing practices, since the United States of America is a main destination for the Sinaloan shrimp market.

“The disposition always, Mr. Ambassador, that the pertinent revisions be made; our shrimp market, which is the United States, we have to take care of it ourselves from here, that is our commitment, I am very grateful for that expression, because it greatly encourages the fishing sector of Sinaloa”, acknowledged Governor Rocha.

On the other hand, the state president referred to one of the main topics of the work meeting, such as the TMEC, which is the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada, which has already aroused some development proposals in Sinaloa, mainly from the CAXXOR Group that intends to build a commercial port in Mazatlán and the Tetakawi Group.

He explained that these businessmen have raised the possibility of continuing the railway to Mazatlán, since there is already a track from Durango to El Salto, and agreed with the governor of Durango, Esteban Villegas, to promote this project with the secretary of the SCT, Jorge Nuño. Lara, who already knows him and agrees, and adding Ambassador Ken Salazar himself to address it between the three governors of Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila with the President of the Republic, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“If Ambassador Salazar and the three governors accompany us, we agree to go and have a talk with the president -López Obrador- about this issue, it would help us a lot if the ambassador was there, to show North America’s interest, and I would second it. this proposal that Esteban makes,” he said.

“If the United States is interested in this region of ours, it is a guarantee that we can prosper in our development projects and we will always be committed to offering a good environment, particularly the security environment, and local supply for the companies that settle. , international companies that come here, because we have not only the supply of labor, but also other elements that are already manufactured here”, he concluded.

In turn, Ambassador Ken Salazar wished Governor Rocha a speedy recovery, who followed the development of the meeting at all times through videoconference.

The moderator of the work meeting was the Secretary of the Economy of Sinaloa, Javier Gaxiola Coppel, due to the nature of the economic issue of the bilateral meeting, who highlighted that the United States, as the most important world market, and the other countries that wish to attend this market, they are bringing their plants and supply chains closer to the T-MEC area.

In this regard, Gaxiola Coppel highlighted that Mexico is highly relevant due to its competitive advantages, and this is reflected in the multiple investments that are coming to our country. “Just this year, we have increased the recruitment of Foreign Direct Investment by 13 percent, compared to 2021. Today we have more than 32 billion dollars. The corridor of this region, represented by Sinaloa, Durango and Coahuila, plays a very important role in attracting and developing supply chains that serve the T-MEC market.”
