The US House of Representatives passed the final version of the $ 1.9 trillion Covid relief bill, and sent the bill to President Joe Biden’s office for signature, so that it would take effect.
The legislation was passed on the basis of a partisan vote in the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, when no member of the Republican Party approved it, while one member of Biden’s Democratic Party opposed it. And no Republican senator voted on the bill last week.
In a speech shortly before the House vote, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked, “How do you say no to lift 50 percent of poor children in America out of poverty?”
The provisions of the plan, one of the largest stimulus packages in American history, include direct payments to individuals, including most Americans, amounting to $ 1,400, with a total value of $ 400 billion, allocations to help states and local governments, expanding tax credit for children, and increasing funding for the distribution of vaccines.
