© Reuters. Usain Bolt denounces having lost millions from his investment accounts
San Juan, Jan 12 (.).- The Jamaican Police began an investigation on Thursday into the alleged disappearance of millions of dollars from an account belonging to former athlete Usain Bolt at the Jamaican investment company Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL), according to confirmed the athlete’s representative, Nugent Walker.
Walker said Bolt became aware of the discrepancies in his accounts on Wednesday.
“All pertinent steps have been taken to get to the bottom of the matter,” he declared, reporting at a press conference that “the Financial Investigations Division and the Financial Services Commission are among the entities that have been informed.”
Likewise, the representative of what is considered the fastest man in the world said that he could not reveal the amounts involved or the period of time covered by the investigation.
“He has been with this entity for more than 10 years, his entire portfolio is being reviewed,” Walker explained.
Police are investigating reports that a former SSL employee was involved in massive fraud at the entity, including missing amounts from Bolt’s accounts.
Attorney Tamika Harris, who represents a former SSL employee, said her client has been in talks with SSL for two weeks.
Former Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt has won eleven world and eight Olympic titles as a sprinter.
