Useless and dangerous servility

I am old enough to remember as deputies of the PAN and the PRD, they referred to their peers from the PRI in the chamber of deputies and senators as servile, crouching, anti-democratic, fascist and many other adjectives, when in the exercise of their majority that party approved a presidential initiative. There was, however, an interesting detail: that PRI majority and later the PAN majority were neat in compliance with the law. The very few constitutional controversies or actions of unconstitutionality, filed from the government of Carlos Salinas de Gortari to that of Peña Nieto (less than 15 in 30 years) against the more than 11 that have been presented in the current six-year period, show this. You will say, but they were squats, right? I would tell you some and not others. There was discussion and there was kicking, as they said then and there is evidence of it. The agreements in the electoral reforms were consensual, the reforms and others such as the fiscal ones were paid for by the PRI and the PAN at the polls. In short, there was parliamentary life and debate, sometimes very strong. That is why, this week, two images caught my attention.

In a defiant and threatening tone, several senators from Morena claim that Senator Sánchez Cordero (also a brunette) has not mentioned President López Obrador even once in her report as president of the chamber. To which she replies that, consistent with the division of powers, she did not consider it necessary. Others launched themselves against Senator Monreal, from Morena and coordinator of the faction, saying that they did not want AMLO out of the Senate, that it was unacceptable, even with the division of powers, the faction’s distance from President López .

The second image was given during the debate (if that is what it can be called) for the approval of the initiative sent by the president on transferring the operation and administration of the GN to SEDENA. The astonishment comes not from the virulence of the brunette faction for approving an urgent and obvious resolution in a single day (the first of this period) the presidential initiative.

Nor is it surprising to call the opposition liars, when they took photos or videos with the statements of Mario Delgado (president of brunette) or AMLO himself, which we have all seen, saying that the militarization of Mexico was unacceptable and that AMLO would return the army to the barracks, which has not happened.

I was also not surprised that the deputies, knowing that said presidential initiative is absolutely unconstitutional, got ready to vote for it and win the vote by 3 or 5 votes, becoming what they criticized so much: abject servile people, who are capable of voting and defending with arguments puerile administrative coordination, which the law always wanted to separate for historical, social reasons and different objectives.

What amazes me is the futility of servility. Attaching the GN to SEDENA does not solve the security problems at all. The objective conditions of the criminal reality and of the state and municipal corporations will not change at all. Even worse, assignment to the military command requires military, not civilian, obedience. For practical purposes, there will be no civil corporation that can defend citizens or take care of them, with the consequences that this entails. Our security, today and except for what the Court decides in the future, depends on a general and AMLO, a useless servility that endangers civilian life. Nothing more, but nothing less either.
