©Reuters. Value of green and sustainable bond issues nearly triples in one year
Madrid, May 15 (.).- The total amount of green and sustainable bond issues that have been registered in the fixed income markets of Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME:) exceeds 100,000 million euros up to May, which It represents almost triple what was registered in the same period of a year before.
According to data provided by BME, specifically, at the beginning of May, the amount of ESG bond issues -linked to environmental, social and good governance sustainability criteria- both public and private reached 105,160 million euros, compared to just over 41,360 million euros from the same period of 2021.
Of the total amount of these issues registered in the BME fixed income market during 2022, the majority, 79,500 million euros, correspond to the issues launched by the Treasury of different European countries, such as those of Spain, Germany , Italy, Ireland or France.
They are followed by the issues issued by the autonomous communities, which reach a volume of some 13,800 million euros, while those of the financial sector add up to around 6,270 million euros.
