With the NBA’s Summer League well underway, fans are sitting and waiting with anticipation for the debut of Victor Wembanyama.
The No. 1 overall pick from the San Antonio Spurs has not played in the first two games his team has participated in.
But the French phenom has been officially included in the Spurs’ summer league roster, per a team announcement on Twitter.
Wembanyama has made his way to Las Vegas and was seen signing autographs for fans on one of the many pedestrian bridges all over the strip.
During his ventures throughout the Las Vegas evening, a fan of his – singer Britney Spears – attempted to take a photo with the budding basketball star.

Wembanyama was announced as part of the Spurs’ 2023 Summer League roster Thursday
One of the people looking to get an autograph was pop singer Britney Spears – who was on the receiving end of a slap to the face by a Spurs’ security guard protecting Wembanyama
However, she was met with a slap to the face by the Spurs’ Director of Team Security – who reportedly did not recognize the internationally famous pop star.
According to TMZ, this slap was supposedly so strong that Spears was sent to the ground and her glasses were knocked off of her head.
Spears was able to maintain her composure and return to her table – where the man who hit her came over and apologized.
‘You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans,’ he reportedly told her before saying he was sorry.
Spears reportedly accepted his apology. However, after her own security team got involved, they spoke to the Spurs’ security director.
Eventually, Spears’ team filed a report with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department accusing him of battery.
It’s not clear if Spears had any role in the filing of the report.

Wembanyama is set to make his Summer League debut this Friday vs. the Charlotte Hornets
The Hornets will likely play the player taken after Wembanyama, Brandon Miller
As for Wembanyama, the top pick at this year’s NBA Draft has been getting acclimated to his new life in San Antonio.
He was greeted by fans at the airport the day after he was drafted and then was unveiled to the city at San Antonio’s famous River Walk.
Wembanyama has also been playing more recently than the college stars he was drafted with – as he took his former French team, Mets 92, to the LNB Pro A finals.
But it’s expected that he will make his Summer League debut this Friday in a game against the Charlotte Hornets.
There, he will face off against the draft’s second overall pick, Brandon Miller.
