Virgin Australia is struggling to fix a global system outage that has left passengers unable to check in and board planes.
Travellers have reported scenes of chaos at airports across Australia as the airline works to solve the issue.
Flights have been delayed for some passengers since the problem was first reported by the airline on Friday evening.
‘Airport staff have moved to manual check-in processes but there are delays,’ a Virgin Australia spokesman said.
‘We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.’
Passengers have been urged to check their flight status on the Virgin website while it’s understood REX flights have also been affected.
Flights that were due to leave from 4.30pm on Friday have been affected by the IT issue with frustrated travellers filling up airport waiting areas.
More to come.
