Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Visa announced, on Friday, the suspension of its credit card services on “Burnhub”, one of the largest pornographic sites in the world, due to allegations of illegal activities as it put it.
This came in a tweet by Visa on its official Twitter page, in which it said: “Due to allegations of illegal activities, Visa suspends the advantages of accepting BornHub pending the end of our ongoing investigations. We direct the financial institutions that serve MindGeek to suspend the execution of financial orders through the Visa network.”
The company added in a separate tweet: “On Visa, we are vigilant to track illegal activities on our network, and we urge our financial institution partners to review their customers’ compliance with our standards on our and other platforms.”
It is reported that a report published by the New York Times accused the porn site Burnhub of showing videos on its platform depicting child abuse and non-consensual sexual behavior.
The porn site had responded earlier, denying these allegations, stressing that any insistence that the site displays sexual abuse clips with children on its platforms is “irresponsible and incorrect.”
