Volvo accelerates sales with boost of electric cars

Volvo Car in Mexico will not only achieve record sales in the Mexican market at the end of 2022 – a result not recorded for 17 years – but in 2023 it is committed to double-digit growth with the sale of zero-emission and hybrid units, aimed at reaching the goal of selling 50% of electric cars in 2025, said its general director, Raymundo Cavazos.

“2022 was a special year because after 17 years we broke the barrier and it was the best year for Volvo Car in Mexico, with good results, achieving 25% growth and about to close, with growth for four consecutive years and this is the little star with the highest volume”, highlighted the General Director of Volvo Car Mexico.

The Swedish company expects annual sales to be around 4,000 units, of which a third corresponds to the demand for electric, plug-in and hybrid vehicles. “This is important and we want to continue growing, because by 2025, we have to be with 50% of the sales of electric cars worldwide, in which Mexico is no exception, and by 2030 we must be with the commercialization of 100 % electric”, added Cavazos.

In an interview, the director of Volvo Car Mexico stated that the year 2023 will be interesting in terms of electrification, despite the fact that the external problems that affect the industry will continue. “We will seek to sell double what is sold this year in electric cars”, so they will bring more units towards the second half of the year.

The bet is to continue growing at double digits for the fifth consecutive year and seek growth. “We see a very good year for Volvo in Mexico and electrification, a large presence with electric, hybrid and plug-in vehicles will increase in the second half of the year”; In addition, strategies will be sought to solve charging at home, as well as multiplying charging points on highways.

Among Volvo’s great achievements in the Mexican market, he recalled, was the Volvo C40 Recharge, a car that was born under the concept of sustainable luxury; in May, the entry of the new T8 powertrain came to provide greater electric range in the Volvo S60 PHEV, Volvo XC60 PHEV and Volvo XC90 PHEV; Big news came in November with the arrival of the P6 powertrain and Plus versions in models like the Volvo C40 Recharge and Volvo XC40 BEV.
