The waters of the waterfalls in the lakes in the reserve began to flow in the area since 1973, when the upper flat was flooded in 1973 and the second flat in 1976, forming the Wadi El Rayan depression, and natural waterfalls with a height of 20 meters were formed.
Al-Nawahi pointed out that the area includes eco-tourism activities, such as boating, sand boarding, and watching migratory birds, which number in the area 173 species of birds, whether resident or migratory, during the winter season. Regarding the services in the area, Ayman Al-Nawahi pointed out that the waterfalls have a variety of services, such as 10 cafeterias to provide service to visitors, and 2 camping camps for visitors. The waterfalls are connected to each other by a wooden bridge and the development of the opposite side of the area so as to have the opportunity to accommodate a larger number of visitors.
The director of the reserve indicated that a greater development will be made to establish more toilets to accommodate visitors, especially that the number reached 500,000 Egyptian and foreign visitors.
Regarding the cost of spending a day inside the waterfalls of Wadi El Rayan, Ayman Al-Nawahi confirmed that the tourist will have a program for skiing, boating and a summer party, in addition to breakfast and lunch, and that does not exceed 150 pounds per person, explaining that those who carry out these activities are the recipients of the cafeterias surrounding the area.
