Wael Al-Dahdouh is a name that ears and eyes have become very familiar with, especially in every event related to Gaza, whether it is ordinary news, or news carrying disasters descending upon the people of Gaza, which is what they have become accustomed to for nearly twenty years, and one of the important voices conveying this event was a voice. A photo of Al Jazeera, via one of its most important correspondents in Gaza, Mr. Wael Al-Dahdouh.
Wael’s profession was to report news about the martyrs of Gaza, its victims, and the crimes of the Israeli aggression against the people of Gaza. Due to the ugliness of some scenes, he asked the camera not to come close, as we saw in more than one scene, out of concern for the feelings of the masses, and perhaps also out of his desire to cover the dead, and out of consideration for the feelings of the people. His family is in tragedy.
Before, Wael was a transmitter of the news, despite his extreme affect and pain from what he saw and reported, but today he and his family are the news, and the heartbreaking news that Wael receives, live, and sees with his own eyes. Others saw or learned of the news of the martyrdom of their relatives through the media, and sometimes they see themselves, but this time Wael saw with his own eyes the heinous crime, with the martyrdom of his wife, son, and daughter.
Al-Aqsa flood and salvation through martyrdom:
A great tragedy. The affliction of one of these people breaks the back, and the Holy Qur’an called death a calamity. God Almighty said: (So the calamity of death has befallen you.) Al-Ma’idah: 106, because of its severe impact on the soul, no matter how strong a person is, and it appears to the observer that he is solid, composed, and remains in the soul. A deep wound, and intense pain from the loss, so what about the tragedy here that affected an entire family, and it is a recurring scene in Gaza since the beginning of the crimes of the Zionist entity since October 7th, Operation (Al-Aqsa Flood).
It is good that they called it (Al-Aqsa Flood), in reference to the flood of Noah, peace be upon him, because the flood will not be saved except by those who board the ship, which is resistance until victory or martyrdom, whether the martyrdom of a person, or his family, for whoever boarded the ship and survived with martyrdom will intercede for his family, and all of Gaza. It has become a lifeboat for its people in this time, whether its people fluctuate between martyrdom, or patience with the martyrdom of their relatives.
Profession in search of a certificate:
They used to call journalism: the profession of looking for trouble, because of the troubles and difficulties that honorable journalism inflicts on its owners, starting with harassment for the sake of livelihood, through to imprisonment, arrest, or defamation of reputation. Everywhere it is the profession of looking for trouble, except in Palestine, for it It is called: the profession of searching for martyrdom. Few people survive the machine of the Israeli enemy. Either you will be martyred, as in the case of Sherine Abu Aqla, or your family will be martyred, as in the case of Wael Al-Dahdouh.
A great and great affliction:
Wael’s affliction is difficult and severe, because not only did he lose most of his family, a wife, son, and daughter, but also because the most difficult thing about it is that in most cases of calamity and calamity a person loses his son, and finds by his side a wife who is steadfast and patient, and strengthens the husband’s support, or vice versa, and in In the case of the martyrdom of the wife, the husband finds his children standing beside him to support him, and he sees in his daughter the image of his lost husband, so he consoles himself with that, or helps him to do so.
A person lives in this life and is happy that he has children. He works hard in life and raises his children, because they are a cover for him in this world when he grows old, and a cover for him in the afterlife when he meets his Lord. They carry his body and stand to receive people’s condolences in it, and therefore it is hard on the soul. To carry the bodies of your children. We carry children when they are young, and we are all happy with this burden. We carry them so that they receive life, but the most difficult burden is carrying children as we send them to the afterlife, and the bitterness of this burden is known only to those who have tasted it.
God’s kindness in calamity:
This bitterness that accompanies a person whenever he remembers his children, or sees someone of their age, or a friend of theirs after death, is not alleviated except by what God has prepared for him of the reward of patience and praise. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “If a servant’s child dies, God says To his angels: You have captured the child of my servant. They say: Yes. He says: You have captured the fruit of his heart. They say: Yes. He says: What did my servant say? They say: Praise you and take it back. Then God says: Build for my servant a house in Paradise, and call it the House of Praise. It only catches my attention that God grants to those who are patient and thankful a house in Paradise called the House of Praise. Rather, the phrase that the Lord of Glory says, which sums up the pain of loss for children, is his saying: (You have received the fruit of his fruits), for these are the children of man, the fruit of the heart, so what if death picks it? With a weapon of treachery and crime?!
This is the wisdom of God in every affliction. The affliction does not come except with kindness, and Ibn Ata Allah Al-Alexandri was right when he said in his wisdom: Whoever thinks that God’s kindness is separate from his destiny, that is due to a deficiency in his vision. Indeed, my Lord is kind to whatever He wills. It is God’s kindness for a person to speak in times of calamity in a way that expresses his composure and patience, which is what we saw in the people of Gaza in their martyrs, and we saw it in Wael Al-Dahdouh when he said his word that will remain engraved in people’s minds: Are they punishing us with our children? No worries.
It is God’s kindness to Wael, to speak good words to him in times of affliction, and to find all this sympathy from people, and it is sympathy for all the people of Gaza, and for everyone who lost his family in this heinous crime, but today it is in the person of Wael Al-Dahdouh, and every Wael, and God’s kindness to him and all of his servants is abundant. For those who contemplate it, despite the pain and suffering, God’s destiny is not without great kindnesses, for those who search for it and contemplate it, in order to strengthen them, for death comes and takes lives, individually and collectively, in earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and in Corona, but now it has come in bulk. In the families of Gaza, so that their blood may be the ink with which the document of their freedom is written.
