The Wall Street Journal quoted American officials as saying that the United States has intelligence information indicating that a group Wagner Russian may provide air defense system For Hezbollah Lebanese.
The newspaper added that the system in question is the SA-22, a system that uses anti-aircraft missiles, along with air defense cannons to intercept aircraft.
The Wall Street Journal reported that a US official said that Washington had not confirmed sending the system, but was monitoring the discussions between Wagner and Hezbollah, highlighting that the supposed delivery of this system constitutes a “source of great concern.”
The newspaper said that the United States deployed an aircraft carrier in the eastern Mediterranean to try to deter Hezbollah and prevent it from opening a northern front against Israel, explaining that the Wagner company has a presence in Syria, where Hezbollah fighters are also present.
