Draymond Green has slammed those proliferating and engaging with ‘disgusting’ social media rumors regarding Andrew Wiggins’ absence from the Golden State Warriors.
Wiggins has not played since a February 13 win against Washington due to ‘personal reasons’ and his timeline to return, if at all this season, is unknown.
While the forward has been out, rumors over the reasoning behind his absence have been making the rounds on social media.
Wiggins’ girlfriend Mychal Johnson, 27, branded the internet a ‘sick place’ amid false rumors, though the player has not commented on the matter.
‘The fact that a rumor about Andrew Wiggins — I don’t know if it’s true. I’m not here to confirm whether it’s true or not,’ Green said on his eponymous podcast.

‘I really don’t care, like it ain’t got nothing to do with me. You hear stuff like that and you care for like him and her, like and their children.
‘So, I care from that perspective. But whether what y’all saying is true or not really has no bearing on my life nor does it have any bearing on y’all life.
‘The fact that people are so bad at evaluating basketball that you start to run with someone’s personal life, trying to decide why they’re not playing basketball.’
Green attempted to humanize the situation Wiggins finds himself in amid the rumors.
‘Imagine if you were missing time at your job and somebody started a whole rumor about your kids not being yours… that’s ridiculous, man,’ he continued.
‘I’m not here to say whether it’s true or false, I don’t know. It’s not my business, but point being, it’s not yours either!
‘Like y’all are so thirsty to know what’s going on in someone’s life that that becomes the thing. Quite frankly, I’ve just seen people talking. I’ve seen no evidence of anything, you just see people talking. That’s insane, that’s nuts!
‘Sometimes people disgust me. We live in a disgusting world… Like I said, other it’s true or false, I don’t know if the world will ever know. Quite frankly, I don’t think it matters for the world to know if it is or isn’t… People’s kids have to live with that… It’s cringeworthy… It actually makes me lose more and more hope for humanity.”’
Andrew Wiggins’s (R) girlfriend Mychal Johnson (L) hit out at rumors over his absence
Wiggins and Johnson have been dating for almost a decade after meeting in high school and share two daughters together, Amyah, 4, and Alayah, who turns a year old next month.
Taking to Twitter last week, Johnson called the internet ‘sick.’
‘The internet is really a sick place,’ Johnson wrote alongside a vomiting emoji.
She shared another post the following day, adding, ‘The farthest thing from the truth. It’s sad y’all even doing this.’

She also retweeted a tweet that read: ‘Don’t believe everything you read on social media!!!’
Golden State, nor Wiggins, have shared any details about the reasoning for his absence.
But one Warriors player told The Athletic that ‘what he’s dealing with is some real (expletive).’ Earlier this month, Warriors coach Steve Coach remained somewhat optimistic over Wiggins’s return and insisted the team was giving him the time and space he needed.
‘I think that’s the hope (that he’ll return), but really there’s nothing to report on,’ head Kerr prior to the overtime win against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 11. ‘We’re giving him his space as he deals with something that’s way more important than a game.

‘If he’s able to come back, then that would be great, and if not then that’s the case. Whatever happens we’ll handle it accordingly.’
Warriors star Stephen Curry also said: ‘Friend to friend, teammate to teammate, sending him support.
‘Tough situation with him being away for so long but necessary. Life is bigger than basketball.
‘Whatever him and his family are going through, that’s all that matters. Whenever he’s ready to come back, I’m sure he will.
‘That’s how he’s built in terms of being available. I know he’s missing the vibe and being with us, and we miss him too.’
A first-time All-Star and an NBA champion with Golden State in 2021-22, Wiggins signed a four-year, $109million extension in October.
This season, the Canadian is averaging 17.1 points and 5.0 rebounds in 37 starts.
Drafted No. 1 overall in 2014 by the Cavaliers, Wiggins has career averages of 19.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists through 635 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Warriors.
