The US Department of Commerce imposed additional oversight over US technologies and activities of US personnel that could benefit military intelligence in Russia and China.
“We cannot allow military intelligence structures in our competing countries, such as Russia, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Iran and other countries supporting terrorism, to benefit from American technology and services in order to support their destabilizing actions,” said US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.
He added, “These new strict controls will prevent the Chinese Bureau of Intelligence and Russian Military Intelligence from using American technology and services in support of espionage, information gathering, operations and other activities that conflict with US national security interests.
