Some news sites in Saudi Arabia have circulated a rare photo of the late Saudi King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz, during his participation in the funeral of King Abdullah I bin Al Hussein of Jordan after his assassination.
The image dates back to 1951, when King Fahd is seen participating in the funeral on behalf of his father, King Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The image spread during a celebration by the people of Riyadh on the occasion of his assumption of the reins of power.
It is reported that King Abdullah I was assassinated on July 20, 1951, while he was visiting Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
The assassination was carried out by a Palestinian man, because he was expecting the king to sign a separate peace agreement with Israel, so he fired 3 fatal shots at the head and chest of the king.
