Skier Angelina Golikova won first place in the world speed skating championships on Friday, in the second day of the tournament, which is taking place in the Dutch city of Heerenveen.
The 29-year-old Russian national team player won her first gold medal, after she went 500 meters in 37,141 seconds.
Dutch Vimki Kok came in second place by 0.14 seconds, while the bronze medal went to the other Russian player, Olga Vatkulina.
In honor of this, the whole world listened to the musical score from the first concert of the Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky and raised the flag of the Russian Skating Federation.

Varvara Barysheva, executive director of the Russian Skating Federation, previously announced that composer Tchaikovsky’s music would be played in the World Skating Championships instead of the Russian national anthem.
An alternative music was proposed to the Russian national anthem in the 2021 World Skating Championships, after the decision of the Sports Arbitration Court “Cas” on December 17th to ban Russian athletes from competing in major international competitions under the Russian flag and anthem for a period of two years from the date of the decision, that is, until December 16. 2022, allegedly “data tampering with the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory”.
