Watford reject £25m bid for Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace as Eagles weigh-up increased offer for winger before domestic deadline day ends
- Ismaila Sarr was target for Liverpool but Reds opted to go for Diogo Jota
- Watford winger is still on the radar of a number of Premier League sides
- Crystal Palace have tested the waters with bid of £25million, which was rejected
Watford have rejected a bid of £25million for winger Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace.
The Premier League side tested the waters with an offer and are considering upping their bid for the Senegal international, who was on Liverpool‘s radar earlier in the transfer window.
Manchester United also retained an interest in the 22-year-old but it is the Eagles who have firmed up their interest with a concrete offer.
Ismaila Sarr was subject to a bid of £25million from Crystal Palace but it was rejected
Watford were previously understood to want £40m for Sarr, who joined from Rennes last season for the same price.
Liverpool refused to stump up the asking price and instead signed Diogo Jota from Wolves earlier in the transfer window.
United earmarked Sarr as a possible replacement target for Jadon Sancho as the Old Trafford club could not agree on a fee with Borussia Dortmund but appear to have ended their interest.
So Palace are aiming to capitalise before the domestic transfer window shuts at 5:00pm on Friday afternoon.
Roy Hodgson is looking to strengthen his side and is keen on the Senegalese winger
It remains to be seen how much a second bid for Sarr may be worth or if the Hornets will end up accepting an offer below their original asking price.
Palace have already successfully raided one Championship club of their best star this summer, with the Eagles signing Eberechi Eze in a £19.5m deal from Queens Park Rangers.
But Roy Hodgson remains keen to strengthen and an attack with Wilfried Zaha, Eze and Sarr would be a formidable prospect.
Palace have won two and lost two of their opening Premier League games this season and reside in 12th in the table ahead of this weekend’s clash with Brighton.
