With the season in its early stages, Ben Simmons’ situation in Philadelphia remains unchanged. The 76ers still have not received an offer to make them execute the move, and although many expected that over the weeks the Pennsylvania will lower their expectations, it seems that this will not be the case. This is at least what Daryl Morey, his general manager, who commented in recent statements that he does not want to transfer to the base for a lower value than he considers that he has and that he is willing to wait for his contract to end.
You’re going to think I’m kidding, but I’m not. We could be like this for four years »he assured on the radio program The Fanatic. «The conditions that we have established have not changed. We are in the prime of Embiid’s career, and if we can’t get a player to make a difference in exchange for Ben, we have to put him back in the team and have him help us win a championship. Four years from now we must think that we did the best we could.
These statements sound more like a public warning to a Simmons who is not making it easy. The attitude of the point guard, who has already been sanctioned by the franchise, seems destined to force the transfer as soon as possible, which could be a nuisance for the team in order to face the season in the best possible conditions. Morey, however, believes that it is something they must be willing to go through until the circumstances they seek are met.
I’m focused on winning the ring, and I’ll go through whatever there is to go through. Whatever process, pain or difficulty that has to be faced in order for the 76ers to win the title, we will deal with it. It’s not a bother to me and it never has been, ”he concluded.
